If you are a grade 11 or 12 student and want to get some valuable volunteer experience, consider working as a student aide in the library. Student Aides volunteer their time during regular classes. So a block 2/B student aide will be expected to work in the library every block B. Mr. Elphick takes attendance each block and expects the student aides to take on more responsibilities and learn more skills than other volunteers. Being a student aide is both fun and challenging.
Students who have already spent a year as student aide can get Work Experience credits if they spend a second year volunteering during class time. Second year volunteers are expected to be mature, hard working and willing to take on a leadership role.
GTP 30 Hour Requirement
If you need to meet the 30 requirement for Grad Transition Plan, consider volunteering in the library. Not only will you meet the requirement, but you will gain valuable skill and help your school out.
